“What Game Has The Best Odds For The Player?” The only game where the customer ever has a mathematical advantage over the house is 21... Blackjack. The advantage in the game of Blackjack floats back and forth between the house and the players. A basic strategy player reduces the house’s starting advantage because of his perfect computer like play. A card counter simply identifies the times when the house or player has the advantage or when the game is even up. (Please refer to the questions on card counting and basic strategy.) At the times the player has the advantage the card counter places bigger bets. When the house has the advantage, obviously the card counter places smaller wagers. The house has about one half of one percent starting advantage over the basic strategy player. The card counter can gain more the 2.0% advantage by betting at the proper plus and minus counts. The Pass Line bet of the crap table has a mathematical advantage for the house, (against the player), of 1.414%. The Don’t Pass Line has an advantage of 1.402% for the house and against the player. Some will argue that taking the odds will reduce the house advantage. On paper this sounds logical because mathematically the house’s rate of win is reduced. For single odds the house has 0.848% rate of win on the Pass Line and 0.832% on the Don’t Pass. With double odds the house’s rate of win is 0.606% on the Pass Line and 0.591% on the Don’t Pass. Keep in mind however that you are now risking more money by taking the odds, to win or lose the same amount. (See the question on Free Odds.) I am not talking about a lucky streak where you win and get out, or a losing streak where you can’t seem to win a bet, but on the normal flow of the game. All the odds do, is decrease the rate (percentage) at which the house wins a larger bet or the rate at which you win or lose. Baccarat and/or Mini-Baccarat have a rate of win for the house of approximately 1.34% on the Player Side and about 1.21% on the Bank Side. Any game that has around a 1% house edge is of course a good game for a player. Games that have a big payoff amount like Caribbean Stud Poker and Let It Ride have a little more advantage for the house because the house has to fund the big jackpot amount. (The best bet for a player to make is what is called a “Mind Bet”... You stand behind the game... watch the action.., an attempt to predict the winner. You never bet any real money... you only bet in your mind. Last week a friend of mine lost his mind three times.)
